Nebraska Charged $100 to Create the Company
A clean Nebraska registered agent setup for $99 per year. You get the office address on file, scanned legal mail, and compliance reminders ahead of state deadlines.
This is a rival's page. Nebraska Registered Agent.co wants the appointment and charges $99 a year for it. Read accordingly. LegalZoom's rate below is what we logged in a July 2026 pricing review.
The Brand Earns Something
Recognition has value. A first-time owner handing paperwork to a company they have heard of for a decade is buying a kind of confidence, and there is nothing foolish about that. LegalZoom has been doing this a long time and does not hide its price.
The price is $249 a year, flat, auto-renewing. No first-year discount turned up in our check. Consistent, and the highest fixed annual figure on our Nebraska roster.
Put It Next to What the State Charged
Nebraska brought your LLC into legal existence for $100 filed online, or $110 in office, under Neb. Rev. Stat. § 21-117. One filing, one time, and the company exists.
LegalZoom's agent service costs two and a half times that. Every year. Forever.
| Charge | Amount | How often |
|---|---|---|
| Certificate of Organization, Nebraska SOS | $100 online / $110 in office | Once |
| Biennial report, Nebraska SOS | $25 online / $30 paper | Odd years only |
| Agent service, LegalZoom | $249 | Every year, automatically |
| Agent service, Nebraska Registered Agent.co | $99 | Every year, unchanged |
Read the right-hand column downward. The state's two charges are a one-off and a two-yearly. The vendor's is annual and automatic, and it is the largest number in the table by a wide margin.
$150 a Year, Compounded by Doing Nothing
Ready when you are. Ordering takes about five minutes.
Order HereThe difference between $249 and $99 is $150. Across a decade that is $1,500, which would pay Nebraska to form fifteen more limited liability companies. Auto-renewal is what makes it accumulate quietly: the charge requires no decision from you in any year after the first, which is convenient right up until the moment you notice it.
Look again at what the recurring half of that table actually pays for. Nebraska never bills an LLC for having an agent. It bills for the paperwork that names one, then goes quiet until the next odd-numbered year. Everything above those two small state charges is money paid to a vendor for standing at an address on your behalf, and vendors price that job anywhere from $90 to $249 without the underlying duty changing at all.
Correction before you assume it: cheapest is BetterLegal's word, not ours, on the strength of a $90 listing. Ours ranks among Nebraska's lowest flat annual rates. Different claim, and we would rather make the accurate one.
The $99 List, Complete
- Nebraska street address on every state filing, yours kept off it
- Court papers scanned on arrival day and emailed straight through
- Business-hours coverage at the address, which is what the role requires
- Alerts before the January-to-April report window in your odd year
- Document portal, permanent archive
- Non-legal mail forwarding at $15 per item if you want it
That last line is the only optional charge we have. There is no menu behind it.
Dropping LegalZoom: The Nebraska Filing
One statement, handed to the Business Services counter at the Nebraska Secretary of State, moves the agent name and the address details recorded against your entity. Online it is $25 plus a small portal fee. In writing it is $30. Nebraska assigns no form number, so stop looking for one, and note that the biennial report cannot be used to make this change. Full walkthrough on our change of agent page.
Order matters. Appoint the incoming agent before the statement is filed, because LegalZoom holds the role until the state records the replacement. That is what makes the transfer instantaneous instead of leaving a stretch where nobody in Nebraska can accept a lawsuit on your behalf. Cancel the auto-renewal once the record shows the new name, not while the filing is still in the queue.
Cancelling Is Not the Hard Part
Ready when you are. Ordering takes about five minutes.
Order HereAn automatic charge is easy to leave running and easy to stop once the state record has moved to somebody else. What people postpone is the paperwork sitting in front of that, and Nebraska has already shrunk it about as far as a state filing goes: one statement, a fee of $25 or $30 depending on how you send it, and no form number anywhere in the process.
